South Africa is thought to be one of the most beautiful places to visit during the spring time. This is when all of the interesting flowers start to bloom, bringing in a large amount of people to the area that appreciate unique species of flowers. You can go almost any time of year to see a blooming flower.

It is estimated that there are over 22,000 different plant species in South Africa. This means that 10% of all plant species on Earth are located right in South Africa. The country of South Africa is also the only country that can claim to have one of the world’s six floral kingdoms. There are around 8,000 species concentrated in the small region of the Western Cape; however it is mostly made up of evergreen plants and fine leaves.

While the Cape area is very breathtaking, especially during the spring, one area that is even more beautiful is Namaqualand. This location is usually dry and rocky during most of the year; however there is a large abundance of flowers for a few weeks in the spring, dotting the area with sheets of colors.
